1. Glass tube cutting skills
Cutting of thin glass tubes and rods. When cutting thin glass tubes and rods with a diameter of less than 5mm-10mm, first place them flat on the edge of the table and use a triangular file and a grinding wheel (or a newly broken porcelain bowl). Press the edge vertically against the part of the glass tube where you want to cut it off, and push forward with force until the file mark reaches 1/3 or 1/4 of the circumference of the tube. Then pick up the glass tube (rod) and hold the file mark with the thumbs of both hands. On the back side of the glass tube, hold the glass tube (rod) with the other fingers, and pull it back with both hands at the same time to break it.
Cutting of thick glass tubes. First, use a file to file a fine mark at the place to be cut, then use resistance wire to surround the fine mark. Use heat-resistant insulating material to separate the intersection of the resistance wire (or leave a small gap of 1mm-2mm). The resistance wire You can take a section of the 150W electric furnace wire and heat and straighten it. The resistance wire can be adjusted to a very low voltage power supply by a voltage regulator or a low-voltage power supply. Wait for the resistance wire to become red-hot for about a minute. Put a drop of cold water on the fine mark. When the power is turned off at the same time, the glass tube will break along the fine lines.
